While our unique selling point at LanguageConvo was private and small group classes online with real teachers, over time we added practices features students could use. One of the most popular features was the ability to practice conversation with an AI agent. Initially this was text-based as the screenshot above shows (voice/video agent interaction was still extremely expensive!)

This involved prompt engineering, safety considerations (many of our students were young children), streaming responses, and overall just making an enjoyable UX.
